Joan Laporta spoke about improving Barcelona`s financial situation.

Barcelona inherited a very large wage bill. It exceeded 300-350 million euros, and because of this the club analyzed by football predictions was difficult to manage.


I will never stop praising the work of Mateu Alemany and our management. We have activated the levers to create a competitive team. By the summer we will have reduced the wage bill by EUR170 million [compared to the amount it was under the previous management].


After our arrival, Barca bought players for 215 million euros and sold them for 141 million euros. Given that the wage bill remained too large, La Liga imposed new restrictions on us. Having made Herculean efforts, we registered the players, but La Liga changed the rules - now we cannot carry out such operations.


It`s a constant tug of war that makes planning difficult. We will continue to work to be able to register players and try to convince La Liga to relax the rules. The current rules prevent us from being competitive. In other countries, FFP is softer, " said the Barcelona president.
